CAF Confederation Cup wrap - SuperSport lose again

Al Hilal Benghazi 2-1 SuperSport United

SuperSport United were defeated 2-1 by Al Hilal Benghazi in their CAF Confederation Cup Group A clash at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Sunday.

Muetasimballlah Al Taeb opened the scoring on 13 minutes, and while Gamphani Lungu found and equaliser on 58 minutes, his goal was quickly cancelled out by Taeb just two minutes later.

It was Matsatsantsa's third straight group stage defeat to leave them bottom of the standings with zero points, while USM Aler top the group on seven points, ahead of Modern Future on goal-difference; followed by Al Hilal on three points.

SuperSport had started the tie well but were dealt a blow when Siyanda Xulu was forced off early on with injury, and replaced with Lyema Dopolo.

Lungu, meanwhile, started the tie on the bench but replaced Terrence Dzvukamanja on the 32nd minute mark.

Both sides had chances to win but while the away team were guilty of a number of near-misses, Al Hilal's Taeb converted both of his side's shot's on target.

Sekhukhune United 0-0 Stade Malien

Sekhukhune United were held to a goalless draw with Stade Malien in their CAF Confederation Cup Group D match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Babina Noko started their group stage campaign with a 2-0 defeat to RSB Berkane but responded by beating Diables Noirs 2-1 last week.

There was, however, no way past the Malien defence, as Sekhukhune ended the evening in third place on the standings with four points.

RSB top the table with nine points and are followed by Stade Malien, also on four, while Diable Noirs are bottom with zero points.
