Agent: Ime Okon free in June

SuperSport United defender Ime Okon has not yet signed a new contract and is currently assessing all his options, his agent Glyn Binkin has told SABC Sport.

Club CEO Stan Matthews was recently quoted confirming the centre-back, who recently underwent trials at Ukrainian Premier League leaders Dynamo Kyiv, had put pen to paper on a new three-year contract to reject a potential move abroad.

However, Binkin has denied this, noting that, in fact. Okon could very well walk away a free agent at the end of the current season in June.

“He has not signed a new contract as yet. The club have indicated that they would like to offer him a new contract, but as things stand at the moment he is free as of 30 June 2025,” the representative explained.

“And right now, we are considering all our options in this regard.”

Matthews had also told the media in January that Okon would be leaving the club for an unnamed European team – bidding him farewell when SuperSport faced AmaZulu in the Betway Premiership two months ago.

But that move never materialised, although Binkin revealed there remains genuine suitors for the 21-year-old overseas.

“There’s indeed real interest in the player from good European territories, which we are indeed assessing, but for now he is focused on helping SuperSport remain in the Premier Soccer League,” the agent added.

Okon has become a regular at the back for SuperSport, starting in nine consecutive Betway Premiership fixtures and totalling 20 appearances across all competitions for the club so far.
