The one-time Footballer of the Season parted company with TS Galaxy recently following reports of a bust-up with coach Sead Ramovic over his lack of game time and almost immediately began training with Babina Noko.
Vilakazi made 10 appearances for The Rockets.
“It’s signed, sealed and hopefully he can deliver now for us,” Truter told journalists.
“He has been very good in training, but transferring that from training to the game is key. We have trained extensively with scoring, box entries and finishing. We had nothing to show for it against Royal AM [a 2-0 DStv Premiership defeat on Saturday night], but hopefully, we will get it right. I welcome him.”
Vilakazi only spent half a season at Galaxy before his stint there ended so abruptly after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns.
But Truter expects the ‘Vila’ of old, who was at his best during his days at Bidvest Wits and for much of his six-year spell at Chloorkop.
“Look, with Vila, the quality is evident. I think he brings composure into the last third – some decision-making and insight into the game,” the coach added.
“He has won trophies, has won leagues and campaigned in the Champions League, played for Bafana – it will be a welcomed addition to the attack.”
