Jordaan was reacting to the AFCON 2025 qualifiers draw in Johannesburg yesterday after Bafana Bafana were drawn in Group K against Uganda, Congo Brazzaville, and South Sudan.
Bafana returned with a bronze medal from the AFCON tournament in Côte D’Ivoire earlier this year, and Jordaan says consistency will be the keyword in this qualification campaign.
"This draw is different from previous draws, you find that the teams are spread and more groups are created and therefore more teams participate and more teams have an opportunity,” Jordaan said.
“I think there's going to be some interesting results, looking at the teams, there's going to be some interesting results that I think for ourselves, we must just focus and win the games at home and make sure that we go back. It's important that we build consistency of performance in Bafana, it's very important. So, we look forward to this campaign and we hope that Bafana will qualify."
The 2025 AFCON qualifiers will be played between September and November this year.
Bafana Bafana were among the 12 seeded teams for this draw, as they are ranked 10th in Africa based on the latest FIFA rankings.
This ranking enabled them to avoid the big guns on the continent, and Jordaan says credit should go to head coach Hugo Broos and his boys for placing the team in this advantageous position.
"I think all credit to the team, the coach and what they have produced. Overtime slowly but surely they managed to climb up the FIFA rankings and now we are number 10 and it's quite an achievement for the team who in 2010 was number 83, it's back at number 10 and has still the capacity to do more and to perform, I'm very happy with that."
