It was the Tshwane side’s third straight loss in the Betway Premiership, a result that sees them still out of the top eight bracket.
The hosts took the lead through midfielder Rowan Human, which was later cancelled out by Siphesihle Ndlovu before Ben Motshwari got the winner at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Hunt insists they let Usuthu off the hook.
"Real dominant performance, a game we should have won comfortably. So, really disappointed, it was a good performance from us but I mean sometimes you can't control [what happens],” Hunt said.
“Two turnover balls and then the shots from outside the box, disappointing, we should have been protecting that area better but I'm saying that we should have won the game comfortably, let's be honest, so yeah, disappointing."
The SuperSport mentor painted a picture of the dressing room afterwards.
"I think it's very disappointing when you come out of a game, especially an away game and we created the most chances and we had more dominance in the box. There's just a pure little bit of luck sometimes and it didn't go for us, so they had a bit of it and then yeah,” he added.
“At the end of the day, they got the three points which is very frustrating but players are devasted because they understand. We played well this season without many results but we've got a lot of good young kids, another few debuts again tonight.
“So, I thought they were excellent and they will get better and better. They will learn because there was some good football we played here tonight and real good chances from good play not from mistakes from the opposition.
“The two goals were mistakes from us, we had the ball, we gave the ball away, they broke and they scored from outside the box but we had the ball. We made our own chances that didn't come from their mistakes."
