Gavin Hunt believes SuperSport United are finding their rhythm after Chiefs victory

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt celebrated his 999th game in top-flight football as a head coach in style as he walloped his former side Kaizer Chiefs 4-1 in a Betway Premiership game at FNB stadium last night.

The hard-to-please Hunt says they are starting to find their rhythm, as they have gone three matches unbeaten after this result. Goals from former Chiefs players Samir Nurkovic, Christan Saile, Gamphani Lungu and Siphesihle Ndlovu made the difference on the night.

United remains 12th on the log with 20 points from 18 matches, and Hunt says they are starting to have a settled team.

"Well, it's three points, we never won a cup, we never won anything tonight, we just got three points. We gotta get ourselves out of the difficult situation we are in. We haven't done well in the league, we know that but it's not for a lack of effort and trying and commitment is all there,” Hunt said.

“As I said, we've been in football for a long time and the first signs you'll see is the drop of attitude but the attitude has been fine. Players have been good and sometimes in football you don't get your deserved results.

“I mean the first game we played Chiefs, the 4-0 in the cup, we should have won that game, if you watch that game and the next game we won 1-0, they should have beaten us, Chiefs, in the league.

“So, you tell me about football, that's what happens sometimes. So, we've gotta keep grinding and keep tryna make chances and try to get a combination together. We chop on and change the team every week because of the problems we've had. So, this is pretty much a more settled team in the last three or four games now."

Before this game, United had scored only seven goals in 17 matches. It was also the first time they had scored more than one goal in a single game in the league. But Hunt refused to consider this result a turning point in their season.

"I don't wanna say too much, you've just gotta read the media the last couple of weeks and months. Strength is that and as I've said, I think we've played better but we just gotta be careful and try and get as many points as we can and see how we can do in the Nedbank Cup as well. We've got a big game there as well so yeah."
