Golden Arrows defender Thabani Zuke has revealed that the departure of coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has had an effect on players at the DStv Premiership club.
Vilakazi made a shock exit from Abafana Bes'thende last week despite the club's superb start to the new season that sees them currently sit in second place on the standings after five games.
The long-term Arrows servant said he made the choice to leave in a bid to improve his qualifications, but was almost immediately announced by Chippa United as their new Technical Director.
Speaking to the Sowetan, Zuke explained that he was surprised to hear of Vilakazi's decision.
He said: "I can say that it affected us a bit because to work with someone for a long time and when he leaves like that, where we didnt expect it, had an impact.
"But that he left during the FIFA break, we had time to go all through that and recover. I can say we were not okay as a team because we didn't know as players. We were a bit worried because we didn't expect him to leave.
"He has been with the club for many years, so it was a surprise to all of us. Maybe he had his reasons why he left."
Zuke added: "But we are fine now. We are focusing on our game against Stellenbosch on Saturday. Everything is going well, and hopefully we can win that match."
