Khune, who is suspended by Amakhosi following allegations of arriving at training under the influence of alcohol has been reinstated in the team after Chiefs had earlier sent a statement that he is not eligible to play.
The 36-year-old says he’s in high spirits and maintains a positive attitude despite all the challenges he’s facing.
"I'm doing great, I'm doing well. I think everyone has seen that I've been keeping fit, I've been training very hard because as a 24-hour pro you can't relax at any given time. You will never know where your destiny is and when they opened the votes for the fans to start voting and I saw my name there, I told myself that whatever that I was going through it's a blessing in disguise and I just had to stay ready for anything that's coming my way," Khune said.
"I'm happy that I've managed to carry that through over the years that I will have that never-say-die spirit and nothing will discourage me. I'm happy that I've been keeping fit and I'm happy to be here."
Khune who was one of the most popular players judging by the number of votes he received for this competition says they had a good first session in Polokwane ahead of this game.
"It’s every player's dream to win a cup. I think it's very important that we don't take this game for granted. I think the fans have shown faith in us and there's so many players in the country that they could have chosen or voted for but they believe that the players that they voted for will deliver the trophy and deliver happiness and put smiles on their faces,” Khune added.
“I think that's what we are all here for. Even us as players, a lot of clubs have closed and the league will resume in February so any player would have been away on vacation or to go see their families on national team duty but we all decided to honour the call up and I think that shows how hungry we are and how competitive we are gonna be on Saturday against the Black Label [Carling Knockout Cup] winners."
