Coach Arthur Zwane and the club have been under pressure this season as they battle to end an eight-year trophy drought, with Chiefs facing Orlando Pirates in a Nedbank Cup semi-final Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon (15h00).
Hlanti, who joined the club at the start of last season, says the players can’t shy away from their responsibility to deliver silverware to Naturena.
"We know the duty we have as players. We chose to come and play for Kaizer Chiefs for a reason, which was to add value and not just be here and have fun," said Hlanti.
"Yes, a game of football goes with fun and happiness, but all-in-all, it's about us doing what we do best – we also need to assist the coaches by doing the right things.
"At the end of the day, we might point fingers but that won't help us. This is a team sport, it's not an individual sport, so, for me, what matters the most is for us as players to be united in the difficult times and the good times."
Hlanti further highlighted the importance of mental strength when playing for a club like Chiefs, who have a multitude of supporters expecting positive results and trophies, with the defender also throwing a jibe at the media.
"This is Kaizer Chiefs, if you are not mentally strong, you might have a problem – that's the reality. So, we are here, as players, to add value and we are here to try by all means to do things that will make everyone happy.
"We all know that some of you guys [media] here support Kaizer Chiefs, and some of you guys support Pirates – that's the reality, we can't run away from that. So, we also want to make everyone happy [by winning silverware]."
