Shortly after SABC Sport reported that Kaizer Chiefs had turned down an opportunity to sign the Bafana Bafana international on a free transfer, it was Babina Noko that moved swiftly to rope him in last month.
Mntambo believes Mokotjo is a statement signing by the club.
"Look man, I think it's good in terms of the team, it shows the ambition the team has going forward if you get a player of Kamo's caliber before other teams could get him," said Mntambo.
"That shows the ambition the team has – we want to be in the top eight and hopefully in the future challenge for honours."
Mokotjo is yet to make his full debut for Sekhukhune as he works up his match fitness, but his humility is something that stands out for ‘Figo’.
"The extra work he does, after every session you'd see him doing box-to-box runs, so I think he's coming in with a good mindset. It's not that he comes after playing overseas, things are going to be easy for him here.
"He's here to work his butt off, he's here to cement his place, he's here to fight for his place. Every time he speaks to his family, his family comes to the games to watch so he also wants to make them happy.
"So that's one thing I respect about him, is that he's not here just to add numbers, he's here to contribute to the team's success."
