Kevin Kampl extends RB Leipzig stay until 2026

Bundesliga side RB Leipzig have secured the services of Slovenian midfielder Kevin Kampl until 2026.

Kampl, aged 33, has put pen to paper, extending his previous contract which was set to expire next year.

Kampl, who has been a key figure at Leipzig since 2017, has been an integral part of the team's success, contributing to their victory in two domestic cup competitions during his tenure.

Rouven Schröder, the sporting director of RB Leipzig, had high praise for Kampl, saying, "Kevin Kampl is one of our most essential players, both for his unique sporting abilities and playing style, as well as his role and influence within the team and the entire club."

Kampl himself expressed his joy at extending his stay with the club, which welcomed another Slovenian, Benjamin Sesko, this summer. He said, "What I have experienced here since 2017 is exceptional. I've always emphasized that Leipzig is my club, and I feel at home in this city, along with my family. I simply love it here."

In addition to Kampl, the club are reportedly in negotiations to extend the contracts of Yussuf Poulsen and Lukas Klostermann, further solidifying the core of the team.

This announcement comes just ahead of an exciting Bundesliga fixture, as Kampl and his teammates are gearing up for an away match against Darmstadt this Saturday.
