Mamelodi Sundowns ladies ready for HWBSL season opener against JVW

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies defender Bambanani Mbane says the team looks forward to a strong season opener when they JVW in their Hollywoodbets Super League clash on Sunday.

Sundowns resume with their title defence against a motivated JVW, who come on the back of a 3-2 win against Ezemvelo from last weekend.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Mbane says the team is ready for what is expected to be a tough Gauteng derby at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

“The Gauteng derby, against JVW is going to be a tough one honestly speaking. They won their first match. But as defending champions we need to show up and start the league strong. The team is ready and we know what is expected from us. We are looking forward to Sunday,’’ said Mbane.

Sundowns experienced preseason whilst undergoing technical changes due the suspension of coach Jerry Tshabalala.

Mbane unpacks how the Chloorkop side approached the preseason despite the behind  the scenes challenges.

“The preseason went well, we had a meeting. We know what is expected from us and we are motivated to face the new season with a positive mindset,’’ added Mbane.

Mbane adds that the team standards remain high as they look to retain their domestic title and still have a strong build up to the CAF Women’s Champions League.

“As Sundowns we want to win everything and we are a team that is always prepared for anything. Our main focus is to win the league and focus on Cosafa and have a good build up to the Champions League,’’ she expressed.
