Man Utd's budget move paves way for Liverpool to secure Milos Kerkez

Manchester United have shifted their focus to a more economical option at left wing-back, potentially clearing the path for Liverpool to sign Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez.

According to recent reports, United's interest in Kerkez has been curtailed due to the high cost associated with the player.

Both clubs are in need of reinforcements in the left-back position. United require a specialist for the wing-back role in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 setup, while Liverpool are looking to bolster their squad as Andy Robertson's performances have not been at their peak this season.

Milos Kerkez has been a standout performer for Bournemouth, notably with a spectacular goal against Newcastle. His recent switch to Fali Ramadani's Lian Sports agency was reportedly aimed at facilitating a move to a bigger club in 2025.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano noted on social media, "Manchester United keep looking at LWBs as they've also added Denmark international Patrick Dorgu to their list. Milos Kerkez and Nuno Mendes, higher on the list but more expensive. Dorgu, monitored by Man Utd scouts in the recent months."

In a surprising turn, it appears Manchester United are now pursuing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. According to Corriere dello Sport, United are 'negotiating with Lecce the purchase of Dorgu'.

This move was further confirmed by updates from Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, who both indicated that discussions were progressing.

Romano suggested that the unofficial talks were set to become official, and he clarified that Lecce aim to secure approximately 40 million euros for Dorgu.

Fraser Fletcher, a transfer insider has also confirmed that Dorgu is keen on moving to Manchester United, which could be a decisive factor in this transfer saga.

With Manchester United focusing on Dorgu, Liverpool might have a clear run at Kerkez in the summer. Sources have indicated that Bournemouth would demand at least 40 million pounds for Kerkez, a fee that could increase if he maintains his form through the season.

In parallel transfer news, Antony is set to leave Manchester United for Real Betis following an agreement between the clubs.

On the Liverpool front, there's interest in Lyon's Rayan Cherki, who could be available for around 22.5 million euros this transfer window due to concerns over his attitude.

This strategic shift by Manchester United might just hand Liverpool the opportunity to secure one of the Premier League's promising young left-backs, setting the stage for an intriguing transfer battle in the coming months.
