The 27-year-old forward was sent home from training on Monday due to a high temperature, just a day after being omitted from the squad for the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.
New manager Ruben Amorim made the decision to leave both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho out of the line-up for the crucial clash, raising questions about Rashford's role at the club moving forward.
Rashford, who signed a lucrative ã315,000-a-week contract last year with more than three years remaining, is considering leaving Old Trafford.
"For me, personally, I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps," Rashford said.
"When I leave it's going to be no hard feelings. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me. I will always be a Red."
The forward has been a part of the club since he was seven years old but may seek opportunities elsewhere after this latest setback.
Reports suggest Manchester United could entertain bids of around ã40 million for the England international.
However, it remains unclear if any potential suitors would meet Rashford's financial and career expectations.
