Maritzburg United chairman heaps praise on head coach Fadlu Davids

Maritzburg United Chairman Farook Kadodia has expressed his delight at the appointment of Fadlu Davids as the club's new head coach.

The 41-year-old former Team of Choice boss was reinstalled this week following a brief spell in Russia as assistant coach with Lokomotiv Moscow, and takes over from the sacked John Maduka.

He was previously assistant at Orlando Pirates following his spell in charge of Maritzburg, where he was also assistant to a number of previous head coaches, having joined from Chippa United in 2015.

Davids told the club's website: "I am really excited to be back here and having been here as a player, assistant coach and head coach, I understand the club quite well and will make it easy for my technical team and players to hit the ground running."

Kadodia added, "Fadlu is one of the youngest, brightest coaches in the game and we are pleased to have been able to bring him back to the Team of Choice.

"We have achieved success together previously and had some memorable moments, and whilst the short term objective is to get the team out of our current position, we look forward to creating and producing the brand of football which we as club aspire to."

Maritzburg are currently bottom of the DStv Premiership with two wins from 13 games.
