Marseille unlikely to turn Eric Bailly's loan into permanent deal

Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly's future appears uncertain at the moment as Marseille are reportedly unlikely to make his loan move permanent.

The 28-year-old centre-back is on loan at the Ligue 1 outfit after Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag deemed him surplus to requirements at Old Trafford last year.

Unfortunately for Bailly his season at Marseille has been hampered by two injuries. A thigh injury sidelined him for two weeks in October, before a dead leg then kept him out for a further two months.

The injuries saw him miss seven of Marseille's games, and he has now made only 10 Ligue 1 appearances this season.

There is an option included in his loan deal that would automatically activate a permanent move to Marseille should the defender play 19 Ligue 1 games.

In order for the option to activate, Bailly would need to play in at least nine of the club's last 11 league fixtures.
