Mohammed Salisu was proud to end a difficult journey by making his Monaco debut on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Ghanaian centre-back joined the Ligue 1 side this season from Southampton.

He had struggled with a thigh injury that carried over from his time in the English Premier League but is now back to full-fitness.

Salisu played the full 90 minutes as Monaco overcame Rennes away from home to sit in second place on the league standings; six points adrift of leaders PSG.

The player said on Ghanasoccernet: "I'm very proud of myself, and I'm very happy from the journey.

"It's been a difficult journey, but in the end, I made my debut today, so I'm very happy."
