Moroccan superstar Achraf Hakimi explains decision to renew PSG contract

Achraf Hakimi, the two-time CAF Player of the Year runner-up, has shared the reasons behind his decision to renew his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

On Saturday, the Moroccan right-back committed to the Parisians until 2029, having solidified his reputation as one of the finest full-backs in the world during his time with the club.

Hakimi, who has won seven major trophies with PSG, including three Ligue 1 titles, revealed that "there are still many goals I aim to achieve" with the Ligue 1 powerhouse.

He explained, "The main reason is the ambitious project we have here at the club. Then, there's the style of football the coach has us playing, which I truly enjoy! Lastly, there are still numerous goals I want to reach with Paris Saint-Germain."

When asked about the significance of his contract extension, Hakimi responded, "Definitely! First and foremost, I want to thank the President for his trust and for all the tremendous work he does at the club.

"I'd also like to thank the coach for believing in me both on and off the field. I extended my contract because I feel at home with this team, and that's why I'm giving my all for the club."
