It’s expected the centre back will then resurface at another club in the coming weeks, but is not under pressure to find a new home immediately because his situation is not bound by the transfer window, which closed last night.
Swallows fired 22 players last week on the recommendation of the chairman of the club’s internal disciplinary hearing following a matter where the entire squad was charged for misconduct.
In the final week of December before the Premier Soccer League went on recess to accommodate the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire from 14 January to 11 February, the unthinkable happened when Swallows could not honour a fixture.
Both the League and the club confirmed cancellation of their match against Mamelodi Sundowns in the DStv Premiership after Christmas and the next one against Golden Arrows was also called off as precaution.
The South African Football Players’ Union claimed Swallows had failed to deliver on their promise to pay their employees December salaries early.
It’s been an ongoing saga and one that has seen striker Kagiso Malinga leave the nest for Golden Arrows, while top goal scorer Tshegofatso Mabasa returned to Orlando Pirates with his loan spell cut short.
Allan is confirmed to be the next one – and more are likely to follow. Swallows return to league action against Cape Town City on February 13.
Contacted for comment, the player’s agent Mike Makaab explained that Allan had left the Dube Birds by mutual consent.
