Nasief Morris parts ways with UCT Ladies before season kicks off

SABC Sport has established that former Bafana Bafana defender Nasief Morris has left his job as head coach of the University of Cape Town Ladies side.

This comes just over a month after he was announced to have taken over following their promotion to the Hollywoodbets Super League this coming season.

Sources close to the club has told the public broadcaster that the 43-year-old has agreed to walk away from the team following disagreements.

“Look, it’s not the ideal start to the league for UCT Ladies, but it’s better that it happened now rather than later in the season,” said the source.

Morris was absent from the team's pre-season friendly match against Sasol League side Badgers FC last Saturday at Kopano Astroturf at the University of Cape Town.

It is yet unclear who will take over the reins, with Parker still recovering from injuries sustained during a car accident last October while on his way to the 2024 Sasol League National Champs in Knysna.

Under the tutelage of then-UCT Ladies coach educator Kamal Sait and Shaquille Williams, the team finished second in the play-offs, securing their status the elite women’s football league.

The Capetonians open their maiden topflight campaign with a varsity derby away to UJ Ladies at UJ Soweto Stadium on Sunday.
