The 27-year-old defender joined the club from Torino this season.
He went onto play 22 games, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
Forest secured their place in the Premier League for next season with a 17th-placed finish, following their 2-1 victory over Burnley on the final day of the season.
The club decided to exercise a one-year option to extend Aina's contract and keep hold of the Nigerian right-back for at least one more campaign.
A delighted Aina said on Nigeriasoccernet: "I've been really happy with my time spent here at Forest and the fans have been great.
