Milford rose to fame by knocking out Kaizer Chiefs in the last round but were brought crashing back down to earth on this occasion.
Stellies boss Steve Barker saw the opportunity to give fringe players Andre de Jong, Kyle Jurgens and Nhlanhla Mgaga rare starts.
The score was respectable at half-time with the Winelands outfit taking a 3-1 lead into half-time. Devin Titus swept home Iqraam Rayners' cross before Anoucet Ora doubled the lead soon after.
Menzi Chilli halved the deficit shortly before half-time after pouncing on an error from the DStv Premiership side's defence. However, the two-goal lead was restored by Oura's second after good combination play with Rayners.
Stellies made a blistering start to the second half with Andre de Jong scoring twice in the space of two minutes in the 46th and 48th minutes.
It was a case of damage limitation from then on out for the minnows, who did well to not concede again until the 88th minute when Mervin Boji put the icing on the cake for Barker's side.
