The games are part of pre-season preparations for both teams, with the winner walking away with the inaugural Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup trophy.
The clashes will take place at the Mbombela Stadium, and Sukazi says they are hard at work preparing for the arrival of their opponents next month.
"We've been at work since day one of announcing Augsburg coming to us in July. So, all is set. It will be a two-legged affair, so in other words we are gonna play Augsburg on Saturday the 20th and then again, play them on Saturday, 27th. The winner of the two games obviously will win the inaugural Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup. It will be a mini table of sorts. I hope there will be a clear winner and that should be us. We have to win it so that we could defend it next year." Sukazi said.
Sukazi says the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup will become an annual tournament, and they will add two more teams into the mix – something they intended to do this year but were unable to because of the unavailability of teams.
"Going forward, it is something that we were looking at doing every year. So, maybe next season we'll be lucky to add probably one more South African club and another European club.
“This season it wasn't really easy, we tried to engage our sister clubs but they had their own commitments. They couldn't be available on the day that we had set. So, we are forging ahead with FC Augsburg, they are coming, and all preparations are set."
