Kerr has inherited several players from Moroka Swallows following the takeover by Gallants in the DStv Premiership.

The Englishman says he will give everyone a fair chance.

''I have come to five clubs previously mid-season, bottom of the league, trying to save the status. You know my history, you know my passion for the game. I feel that this time it is a new start, new beginnings. It is still Marumo Gallants but they are moving to Bloemfontein, we hopefully have the support of the Bloemfontein supporters. I am going to try and give back to the Bloemfontein community. We are going to work with the community leaders and the supporters, to give something to the players, whether boys or girls. It is something I am passionate about,'' said Kerr.

Kerr added that he is bracing himself for both praise and criticism.

''Everybody doesn't understand how hard it is to be in my shoes when you're coming to a club that has just been bought for the right reasons. The club is going to Bloemfontein, to give the PSL back to the Free State. It is going to be tough, especially with just a few weeks away to kickoff and I'm looking forward to it - there's going to be a lot of questions and a lot of doubters saying I'm a plumber and there is going to a lot of people who will acknowledge that I have achieved things,'' added Kerr.

The 57-year-old revealed he will work with his previous assistant coach Mpho Maleka again and leave the decision around the Swallows backroom staff to the owner.

''Honestly I don't know the Swallows situation, I do know that I am back working with Mpho Maleka. Obviously you have to put that behind you. You know me and Mpho and David Mathebula who is now back at Chiefs we had a good relationship, one of the things I said to the chairman is that if I want an assistance it will have to be Mpho Maleka, believe me I have hundreds of whatsapp messages and phone calls people asking - coach can I be your assistant, can I be in your technical team,'' concluded Kerr.

The PSL fixtures are yet to be confirmed, which buys Kerr time to warm up to the hot seat and make recommendations.
