Mlaba has been instrumental in helping the national team secure a spot in the world showpiece final, having secured ten-wickets in the tournament so far.
Friend, who spent most of the time with both men and women’s teams in Durban, hails the left spinner and shared a special message to the Proteas Women ahead of their clash against New Zealand this afternoon.
''Mlaba she is unreal, that type of work ethic she has - you know, I see her day in and day when she's around here. She has been putting in the work. I wish them all the best as they represent South Africa in the T20 World Cup final,'' said Friend.
The Proteas are on the verge of making history to become the first ever senior team to win the world cup.
The former bowler, now coach believes winning the world cup will change the image of women’s cricket.
''I think from my side, I just want to wish the ladies all the best, I think they should remain calm. The win will mean so much for women's cricket and for South Africa as a whole,'' added Friend.
Andile Simelane has been one of the most promising youngsters, who has been rewarded with first Proteas call-up.
He has also been very influential in the Hollywoodbets Dolphins side this season. Friend is hoping the young all-rounder will keep improving and get more opportunities in the national team
''Andile has been brilliant. I think he is one of the top five wicket takers in the competition this year. It is good to see him grow from strength to strength from a bowling capacity. He continues to grow, he is with the Proteas squad in the UAE. Hopefully more international opportunities come his way,'' he expressed.
Another Proteas star David Miller made a comeback on Saturday evening, following a short spell overseas.
The coach praised his influence in the team.
Hollywoodbets Dolphins had a very poor CSA T20 Challenge, recording only two victories.
The coach did not want to make any excuses about their disappointing display and is hoping they can take the lesson, bounce back in the four day series and 50 overs competition.
