Having succeeded Blanche de la Guerre last year, Komane unpacked her plans for the future, when she addressed SABC Sport.
An integral part of her agenda is to address the transformation of the sport into a
lucrative business endeavour aimed at attracting big sponsorships.
''When I get into any place, the question is are there systems and are there structures? I look at the mandate and review it to see if we're within the mandate,'' said Komane.
Speaking at the ongoing regional Africa Under-21 World Cup qualifiers, an event that cost NSA R3 million to organize the seven-team, one-week tournament at the University of Pretoria, Komane told SABC Sport that she is diligently working to implement various innovations, including transformation concerns within the young Proteas team.
''Look at the U/21 team now, you question the transformation element, it is rare to find someone from the rural area that is selected on merit,'' added Komane.
Komane has played a pivotal role in facilitating the transformation of retired former Spar Proteas players like Phumza Maweni and Bongiwe Msomi, offering them new roles within the sport.
''We said let's look at our retiring players and get them into the system, you have seen it with Precious and Maweni, we're also speaking to SETAs to request for grants to assist retired players'' she concluded.
