French President Macron downs a beer while celebrating with Toulouse

France's President Emmanuel Macron did not pass up the opportunity to join Toulouse's celebrations after defeating La Rochelle 29-26 in the Top 14 Final.

Macron was in attendance at the Stade de France on Saturday evening, shaking hands with players before proceedings kicked off.

He also joined the celebrations after Romain Ntamack scored a spectacular long-range try to seal a record 22nd Bouclier de Brennus for Toulouse.

Canal+ cameras captured the 45-year-old in the victors' changing room after the game, where he is seen being cheered on by players and coaches to down his beer.

Macron concedes and takes 17 seconds to down his drink before slamming the empty bottle on the table with the Toulouse players clearly enjoying the stunt from the president.

Meanwhile, the celebrations in Toulouse have well and truly kicked off, as the Bouclier de Brennus is getting its traditional treatment from the players.

Sofiane Guitoune and Matthis Lebel slid across the soapy changing room floor, going head-first into the prized shield.

The squad has already embarked on a bus tour win Toulouse with the shield, with fans turning up in their thousands to see the likes of Antoine Dupont and Ntamack with French rugby's most prized silverware.

With the Top 14 season now complete, attention will turn to the upcoming Rugby World Cup campaign in France.

Fabien Galthie's charges open the tournament with a highly-anticipated clash against New Zealand on September 8 in Paris.

That is followed by their other Pool A clashes against Uruguay, Namibia and Italy.
