AFCON qualifying wrap: Morocco the big winners as Ghana's dreadful campaign ends

Morocco asserted their dominance in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with a massive win over Lesotho as Ghana lost again.

Malawi 3-0 Burkina Faso

Already qualified Burkina Faso went down 3-0 to Malawi in their final Africa Cup of Nations Group L match on Monday.

Gabadinho Mhango (28'), Richard Mbulu (57') and Lloyd Aaron were all on target at the Bingu National Stadium.

The result though had little meaning for Malawi, who ended bottom of the pile with four points. Burkina Faso had already secured second place behind leaders Senegal, who play Burundi in their final dead rubber match.

Nigeria 1-2 Rwanda

Goals from Ange Mutsinzi (72') and Innocent Nshuti (75') secured a 2-1 win for Rwanda over Nigeria, who scored through Samuel Chukwueze on 59 minutes.

The win wasn't enough though as Rwanda missed out on qualification on goal-difference to second-placed Benin.

The Super Eagles topped the group, three points clear on 11 points, with Libya at the bottom with just five points.

Sudan 0-0 Angola

Sudan and Angola played out a goalless draw at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday.

The result had no baring on the standings though with Angola ending on top of Group F with 14 points, with Sudan in second place on eight points.

Niger ended in third place, while Ghana somehow only managed to pick up three points during their campaign, to end bottom of the pile.

Libya 0-0 Benin

Libya and Benin also played to a goalless draw, but Benin were keeping an eye on the other result on Group D with their qualification still on the line.

Rwanda went on to shock Nigeria with a 2-1 win to end level with Benin on eight points, but ultimaltely missed out on goal difference.

The Super Eagles topped the group, three points clear on 11 points, with Libya at the bottom with just five points.

Ghana 1-2 Niger

Ghana suffered a 2-1 defeat to Niger in their final AFCON qualifier.

Ousseini Badamassi (22') and Oumar Sako (92') were on target to cancel out a 67th Jeremia Afriyie leveller.

The result had little bearing on the final group standings though as Niger ended on seven points, a point adrift of Sudan, while Ghana took fourth place with just three points.

Tunisia 0-1 Gambia

Gambia's 1-0 win over Tunisia wasn't enough to secure their qualification.

Abdiulie Ceesay scored the only goal of the game on 17 minutes.

The result left Gambia third in Group A with eight points as Tunisia took second spot with 10 points.

Comoros took top spot with 12 points and Madagascar recorded two points to sit bottom of the pile.

Comoros 1-0 Madagascar

Comoros claimed their place at the top of Group A with a 1-0 win over Madagascar where Yacine Bourhane was on target after 47 minutes.

CAR 0-1 Gabon

Guelor Kanga netted a 74th minute penalty as Gabon defeated the Central African Republic 1-0 in their final AFCON qualifier.

Again the result had no consequence as Morocco ran out group winners, with 18 points, ahead of Gabon on four points.

Lesotho in third with four points and CAR in four with three, saw their AFCON dreams come to an end.

Morocco 7-0 Lesotho

Morocco asserted their dominance in Group B with a 7-0 win over Lesotho to end their qualifiers.

Brahim Diaz (5', 15', 42') netted a hat-trick. Soufiane Rahim (37', 45+2 P) scored twice, alongside a goal apiece from Youssef En-Nesyri (68') and Ismael Saibari (70').
