This is Broos’ fourth qualification campaign and second for the World Cup, and he’s never finished lower than second in the previous two.
Speaking to SABC Sport from the team hotel just outside Polokwane, Tau says Broos has changed the team’s mentality towards the qualifiers.
"Yeah no, I think the generations are different, the teams are different, yes the coach also plays a big part in that in how he manages the squad. Of course, different coaches manage differently but I know we are able to get the job done with our coach Hugo and then he's there for us the way he supports us,” Tau said.
“We've done it in the past, the way we've tried to do it but then we'll always have disappointing moments in the last games. So, that's the difference. Previous qualifiers that I've been with the national team will always miss it in the last games either away or home. They'll always be something with the last games.
“So, with coach Hugo, no, we are able to get the job done. so, that's the biggest difference."
Tau returned to action for Bafana on Friday after missing the past two camps.
The former Al Ahly player has now moved to the Qatari League.
He emphasises the importance of securing the three points from this game.
"Look, I'm happy to be back and it was a difficult game yesterday. We knew they were going to make it as difficult as possible but we already had goals early. In the second half I think they changed the whole game because at first, they were just closing everywhere.
“We know Lesotho, whenever they play against us they make it difficult but then the result was important."
