News broke earlier yesterday that Bafana could be docked three points from last Friday’s 2-0 win over Lesotho, in which they fielded Mokoena, who was ineligible after having accumulated two yellow cards, according to FIFA rules.
However, Broos, speaking in French to local media in Abidjan, refused to be drawn on the debacle, which could have a massive impact in the remaining four matches of the group, should the world governing body hand down a sanction.
"Firstly, you understand that I won't comment on that. It is something that will be resolved in the coming weeks, so you shouldn't expect anything from me, no comment," said Broos.
Mokoena did not participate in last night’s match, as Bafana provisionally extended their lead at the top of Group C to five points, pending a FIFA decision.
The Lesotho Football Association and Nigerian Football Federation have since lodged a formal enquiry into Mokoena’s ineligibility to FIFA.
Meanwhile, Broos commended Bafana Bafana performance analyst Sinesipho Mali for the perfect game plan executed against The Cheetahs.
"I think, first of all, there was a good analysis of the opponents, so congratulations to our analysis [team], and secondly, I think the players did what we asked them," he added.
"We knew where we could be dangerous against this team of Benin, which is a good thing, but what we did very well today was keeping the ball and waiting for the right moments.
"In the first half, Benin could have done something, but in the second half, with the weather very hot, they grew tired at a certain moment and it started to be easier for us.
"We could have scored more, and I said to my assistants on the bench, if we score once, we will win the game, and I think it was such a game.
"Benin were not capable of doing anything, except the little chance they had in the first half but, apart from that, I think we dominated the game and we deserved to beat them."
