Alexander Djiku's versatility shines in Fenerbahce's draw with Man Utd

Ghana international Alexander Djiku showcased his adaptability during Fenerbahce's 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.

Taking to the field as a right-back for significant portions of the match, Djiku played a vital role for his side, completing the full 90 minutes with a standout performance.

In a post-match interview, Djiku expressed his willingness to fill any position as needed. "If my coach wants me to play left-back or right-back, I will gladly do it. Of course, my preferred position is stopper.

"But if my coach gives me another task or needs me in another position, I can play there as well," he stated.

Reflecting on the match, he noted the team's determination to bounce back after a challenging first half, where they trailed 1-0.

"We performed well in the first half. No matter how many opportunities we had, we unfortunately entered the first half trailing. However, we continued to play our game. We did not give up and achieved 1-1.

"We could have won in the second half," he remarked.

Under Jose Mourinho, Djiku is gradually becoming a key figure for Fenerbahce.

His versatility, having previously played in midfield at Racing Strasbourg, further emphasises his importance to the team.
