While reaching as high as 82nd, Angola now proudly ranks among the top 100 footballing nations.
This remarkable progress is a testament to Angola's consistent performance over the past year.
At the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, held in 2024, Angola showcased resilience, advancing to the quarterfinals. They drew 1-1 with Algeria, secured a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso, and triumphed 3-0 against Namibia in the group stages.
However, their journey ended in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Nigeria. Côte d'Ivoire eventually claimed the tournament title.
Angola's form extended to their qualifying campaigns. For the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, they remained unbeaten with four wins and two draws.
In the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Angola defeated Eswatini 1-0 and held Cameroon to a 1-1 draw, further solidifying their upward trajectory.
Argentina continues to dominate the FIFA World Ranking with 1,867 points and Morocco leads African teams in 14th place.
