The Belgian mentor blasted his charges for what he described a “disaster” following the goalless draw against Sihlangu at FNB Stadium on Friday.
The trip to Abidjan is an opportunity for redemption as they come up against the star-studded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosts, and Broos wants to see a positive response.
"I want to see revenge [sic], and I want to certainly see a team with passion, a team with a winning spirit again. We showed that already," said Broos.
"And that [against Eswatini], I don't want to see. I want to see [that] my team can die, but after we struggled until the last second and the last metre, then I won't have a problem with that. But I have a problem with seeing the team playing like this [on Friday]."
Ivory Coast are ranked seventh on the continent – four places above Bafana, and have a group of well-known players based in Europe, but Broos has not completely lost belief in his side, and felt perhaps the bonus payment issue had a role to play in their performance.
"My confidence in the team stays, certainly, and I'm sure that will come back. But I've never been so disappointed in the team since I'm here in South Africa – [Friday] was really bad," he stated.
"It was a really bad day and that was [brought on] by some things that I don't want to talk about, I will talk with the players about that.
"But I don't think there's suddenly a lack of quality or a lack of good players, so it's up to them now on Tuesday to show again how good we are."
