Banyana Banyana forward exits Mexico, signs in the USA

Magaia becomes the second South African to move in recent days following that of national teammate Noko Matlou, who was earlier announced to have joined CP Cacereño Femenino in Spain’s second division.

'Breadwinner', a former Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Ladies player, will spend the season on loan in the NWSL, but the Americans have an option to secure her on a permanent basis at the end of the loan deal.

The 29-year-old wasted no time upon her arrival in the States, and attended her first training session with her new employers on Wednesday.

Magaia joined Liga MX Femenil outfit Mazatlán in January this year, where her exploits attracted the attention of the Americans, where she joins prolific Malawian striker Temwa Chamwinga. 

KC Current is the same club that recently defeated Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies 3-1 en route to winning the 2024 edition of the Women’s Cup in Missouri last week.

After winning the Women’s Cup, KCC returns to league action on Saturday, 25 with Washington Spirit lying in wait, but it is not yet clear if Magaia will travel to Washington DC to make her debut.
