Desiree Ellis announced her 23-player squad to face Jamaica on two international friendlies

Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis says it is important to maintain a balanced squad for national duty.

This after she announced her 23-woman squad - that will take on Jamaica in two international friendly matches on 29 November and 2 December.

Badgers FC rising star Jessica Williams earned her first call up in the A Team after an impressive performance at the recently concluded Cosafa Women’s Championship, joining Mamelodi Sundowns’ Andile Dlamini and squad regular Kaylin Swart.

The 61-year-old mentor will rely on five players for international experience, in Hildah Magaia, Linda Motlalo, Noxolo Cesane, Shakira O’Malley and Bongeka Gamede who recently joined FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, while captain Thembi Kgatlana will be rested to accommodate her tight domestic schedule.

Banyana Banyana embarked on a short European tour last month, as part of their preparations to their CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title defence, they lost both matches against England and Denmark.
