Golden Arrows back to winning ways as they shoot down SuperSport United

First-half goals from Nduduzo Sibiya and Knox Mutizwa were enough for Abafana Bes'thende to claim maximum points for the fifth time in 15 league matches this season while Thabang Sibanyoni pulled a goal back for the visitors late on.

The hosts came into the contest having only won once in their last six matches while Matsatsantsa had five victories in their last six games to sit second in the standings, behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Arrows started the brighter of the teams and created the game's first clear-cut chance but Ntsako Makhubela shot straight at goalkeeper Ricardo Goss after 10 minutes.

The home team were then awarded a penalty when SuperSport defender Siyabonga Nhlapo was adjudged to have handled Knox Mutizwa's goal-bound effort.

Nduduzo Sibiya stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved by Goss but the rebound went straight back to the forward who made no mistake finding the net to give his team the lead after 19 minutes.

Abafana Bes'thende then had a glorious chance to double their lead just ten minutes later but Nqobeko Dlamini volleyed over the cross-bar from four yards out.

It was 2-0 four minutes from halftime though when Mutizwa beat the offside trap and latched onto a long ball over the defence and beat Goss with a neat finish.

SuperSport rallied in the closing stages of the first half and thought they had pulled a goal back when Bradley Grobler tapped into the net but the forward was wrongly adjudged to have been offside by the officials.

The visitors showed more attacking intent after the interval but failed to properly test Sifiso Mlungwana in the Arrows goal.

Abafana Bes'thende were content to sit in and play on the counter-attack and they had some dangerous moments when they turned the ball over but failed to add to their goal tally.

Gavin Hunt's charges kept the pressure on and eventually pulled a goal back five minutes from full-time when Sibanyoni rose highest at the far-post to header home Grant Margeman's deep cross.

That was as good as it got for the Tshwane club however as Arrows held on to claim all three points.
