The 2023 AFCON bronze medalists get an opportunity to entrench themselves in the African top 10 rankings when they play the seventh-placed Algerians in the newly created FIFA Series international friendly matches next month.
Bafana are scheduled to play European side Andorra and Algeria next month and Broos.
The choice of these friendly matches delights the 71 year-old.
“We go to Algeria in March, it is a very good team. I'm happy we are playing against Algeria, to get a different experience. We're preparing ourselves for important games in June, and we will certainly try to get good results,'' said Broos.
Bafana are scheduled to face Andorra who are ranked 164th globally on the 21st of next month in Annaba, and Algeria five days later at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Algiers. Broos says he will also use these matches to test new players, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe in June.
''We will have an opportunity to see new players, Algeria is a very experienced and a good team, this will help us to prepare well,'' added Broos.
Yesterday, FIFA released the latest international rankings, and boosted by the performances at the AFCON, Bafana have moved to the top 10 on the continent for the first time in 10 years and placed 58th globally. Broos says he’s looking at blooding in new talent to refresh his current squad.
''Certainly there will be new players in March, but there are some positions in the team which we have to put more attention on than others,'' he concluded.
Broos has previously spoken about the need to have a longtime replacement for the 34 year-old midfield livewire Themba “Mshishi” Zwane and revealed that he is having a meeting today with his assistant Helman Mkhalele, to discuss these new additions to the team.
