John Maduka searching for Royal AM consistency

Maduka was responsible for the team’s third-place DStv Premiership finish last season and CAF Confederation Cup qualification before he walked away to join crosstown rivals Maritzburg United. 

He was then sacked by United in November and has returned to lift them from 12th to seventh place in four league games. 

"First, you can see even the consistency of the team that plays. We don't normally change the team much because remember, we must have a team that is consistent and plays consistently week in, week out," said Maduka.

"If there has to be a change, it must be a change because maybe a loss of form of the individual, or maybe there are injuries as you've seen, we have a couple of injures – so, if it's forced changes then we'll do that."

Twihli Twahla face neighbours Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 tomorrow afternoon, and Maduka could stretch his streak to six matches without a loss in all competitions should they overcome their KZN rivals.

"So far so good, we're still not where we want to be, we do make some mistakes that we can get punished [from], but it's a work in progress, we are getting there," he added.

"The more we win games, or the more we don't lose games, the more the team also becomes confident to say, 'You know what, we're able to win games, we're able to achieve what we want at the end of the season.'"
