The Super Eagles first choice at the AFCON was subbed off on a stretcher with a heavily strapped knee in the 80th minute after colliding with an opponent in their 2-0 win over Cameroon.
Peseiro now anxiously waits to find out whether the Chippa United shot stopper can return to action against Angola in the quarterfinals next weekend.
''I'm not sure at this moment, we will need about 24 hours to know as to what had happened," said Peseiro.
Nigeria ended the game with Francis Uzoho between the sticks, but it is Nwabili who has caught the eye at the tournament having been a surprise choice for The Super Eagles under Peseiro.
The coach told journalists Nwabili had indicated he would be ready for the next match, but that was without confirmation from the medical team.
''I hope he recovers for the next match, but if he can not - we don't play only with the goalkeeper, we play the XI. I believe in all my players, I want him to recover but this is for all the players not only him,'' added Peseiro.
Another player Peseiro will need to continue his strong performances is striker Victor Osimhen, the reigning CAF Footballer of the Year.
He has only scored one goal in four matches, but Peseiro says his efforts are there for all to see after he set up winger Ademola Lookman’s first of two goals against Cameroon in Abidjan.
Osimhen has proven to be a team player.
Peseiro will need a full complement of his squad going into the next round of the competition, but even if he doesn’t – Nigeria have depth, he adds.
''No one can win a match alone, everybody must play but he is a good example. But the guys I didn't put inside, Aribo, Kelechi, Ahmed can show up," he concluded.
