The Brazilians claimed a record fifth league title in a row with a game to spare.
Jerry Tshabalala’s charges needed only a point to wrap up the 2024 campaign, but they went for maximum points, leading 3-0 at the break in the Tshwane Derby.
In their remaining game, Banyana ba Style will face league runners up University of the Western Cape (UWC) on Sunday, 8 December 2024.
This will be the final fixture of the year, almost two weeks past the initial date of 17 November.
This is because both teams are heading to the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco which runs from 9-23 November, followed by the international break from 25 November to 2 December, then the Capetonians will participate in the USSA games from 2-6 December.
The jam-packed end of the season period has seen the annual Hollywoodbets Super League awards moved to January 2025.
UWC are left with four matches to conclude the season – JVW, TS Galaxy Queens, University of Fort Hare and Sundowns Ladies.
The Capetonians are expected to depart for Morocco on Tuesday, 5 November and will play their first match on 9 November – and with their hectic schedule it’s unclear if they will be able to play all the remaining league games.
Regardless of what happens, UWC will finish second on the table – for the second year running.
There is still fierce battle for third place, currently occupied by the University of Johannesburg.
They are on 62 points with one match remaining – against the relegated Lindelani Ladies. Breathing down their necks are TS Galaxy Queens who are four points behind with three games in hand.
Both can finish on 65 and UJ Ladies currently has a two-goal lead in goal difference.
JVW will finish on fifth place, dropping from third last season.
Positions 6-8 are highly contested by First Touch, University of Pretoria, and Royal AM. Newcomers University of Fort Hare ninth and can still sneak in. All four are left with one match each, and have 44, 42, 40 and 39 points respectively.
Lindelani Ladies (KZN) and Thunderbirds Ladies (Eastern Cape) have been relegated and their places will be taken by Sasol League National Champions Ezemvelo Ladies (KZN) and runners up, the University of Cape Town (Western Cape).
