Naledi Hlongwane waiting for Chiefs chance post Carling Cup heroics

Kaizer Chiefs reserve league starlet Naledi Hlongwane says he is ready to step up to the senior team whenever needed.

The attacker was part of the Carling All Star team that beat Magesi FC 3-0 in the Carling Black Label Cup at the weekend, scoring twice for the side coached by Orlando Pirates mentor Jose Riveiro.

Hlongwane reflected on his moment in the spotlight.

''It's a good experience for me, as a teenager. All I can say is that I am letting everything to be controlled by God. Mfundo, I can say I got used to training with him in the DDC before he was promoted to the first team,'' said Hlongwane.

The youngster was in familiar territory while in camp with the All-Star team, reuniting with a few of his former school and teammates – among them Mfundo Vilakazi, who was also promoted to the Chiefs senior side after the competition.

Hlongwane did not hesitate when asked if he was ready.

''If it is time for me to step up and go to the train with the first team, I would go, I would take the opportunity with both hands,'' added Hlongwane.

Hlongwane added that he’d absorbed a lot from Riveiro in the few days the Spanish tactician coached him in the build-up to the Carling Black Label Cup.

The soft spoken Hlongwane was voted Man of the Match, bagging the R100 000 prize money. He revealed what his plans were for the money.

''The money that I got today, as my father passed away last year - I'm planning to do a tombstone for him, and give some to my mom, and save the rest,'' he expressed.
