Sizwe Sibiya: Refiloe Jane is a motivation to younger players in the team

Jane is amongst eight new signings unveiled by the Rockets on Friday, she comes with international experience having played for AC Milan and Unione Sportiva Sassuolo in the Italian women’s league.

Jane has been ruled out of play for over 10 months due to injury, and Sibiya expressed to SABC Sport that they are gradually reviving her passion for the game.

"It's a good addition for us because this is a player that hasn't played football in 10 months, so the first thing is we're slowly gradually introducing her to fall in love with the game once more,” Sibiya said.

“Bit by bit she's slowly going towards that direction of falling in love with the game. Again with the youth or rather the young players that we have in the team.

"It's an inspiration for them, I mean you have a whole national team captain, someone that you were watching from a distance and also plied their trade in Europe, not just for any country, in Italy for AC Milan, for Sassuolo so that alone is a motivation for the younger generation.

“You can see her presence, it has such a huge impact."

Sibiya unpacks his expectations from the team’s new signings, stating that the new players should be willing to take responsibility on and off the field.

"I always tell my technical team that we have to fine comb every individual that we want to bring. We have to see all seasons of a player. What do I mean by that? We have to see them when they play against bigger opposition, we have to see them play against opposition on the same level and opposition below level,” the coach added.

“We see their behaviour, we have to enquire about their off the field behaviour and stuff like that because we're deeply rooted in being humble, respectful and that's us as TS Galaxy. So, we don't just bring anyone into the team because they are good."
