In a true tournament football approach, Bafana surprised the Namibians by targeting the space behind their defenders at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo, Côte d’Ivoire last night.
Zwane, a man of the match after scoring the brace in style, emphasizes why they went this route.
"Obviously today it was a different approach, we wanted to pump the ball inside the box and for us as number 10 and wingers, we tried to get the second balls. We know that our striker was gonna win the balls on top and we tried to put them under pressure and tried to create more goals and take our chances," Zwane said.
It has not been a typical Zwane season in the Sundowns jersey this season, with only two goal contributions (goal and assist) coming to this tournament in 26 matches so far this season.
But he says his confidence has never been affected and hopes to score more going forward.
"Ya, 100 percent, each and every game I'm going with the confidence that I'm trying to score goals. Obviously players like us attacking, you need to score goals so that you can boost your confidence and I'm happy that today I got two chances and I scored two goals. Hopefully, I'll score other goals going forward," Zwane added.
As Bafana look forward to the game against Tunisia on Wednesday, where avoiding a loss will put them in a good position to qualify for the knockout phase, Zwane is more focused on a victory.
"It's going to be a difficult one against Tunisia, from tomorrow onwards we are gonna analyse them and try to come up with a plan. We know for sure that we need a win so that we can qualify."
The CAF Champions League and African Football League (AFL) experience is going to come in handy in the next game against Tunisia, especially for Sundowns players like Zwane.
