Spurs have endured the worst start to a campaign by any club in a 16-team top flight domestic league, with seven straight defeats from seven matches played so far.
Rooted to the bottom of the log standings, their latest defeat to city rivals Cape Town City in the iKapa Derby on the weekend was the final straw for the beleagured coach, who was appointed just under two years ago.
Despite leading the club back from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the elite league via the promotion/relegation play-offs, where they fended off Casric Stars and Maritzburg United, Bartlett's time has now been cut short.
"Following an extensive review and discussions with Shaun Bartlett and taking into consideration the current set of results, we have mutually agreed to the termination of the Head Coach's contract with immediate effect," read a statement from the club on Monday morning.
Just 24 hours prior, the Urban Warriors announced the appointment of Sean Connor as the club's technical director as a show of drastic changes following their 3-1 defeat at the DHL Stadium on Saturday.
Spurs are now on a recruitment mission to secure their next head coach, with CEO Alexi Efstathiou and Connor spearheading the process.
"CEO Alexi Efstathiou and Technical Director Sean Connor have already begun the re-structure of the coaching set up at the club. A shortlist of candidates has been identified and an announcement is expected imminently," further read the statement.
The Mother City outfit, formerly known as Ajax Cape Town, next face SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday evening at Athlone Stadium.
