With a single point from two matches, Ghana are in danger of going home since Cape Verde have already topped Group B. But beating Mozambique and hoping results elsewhere go their way has put a burden of expectations for Hughton.
''The conversation is not difficult, this is a game we have to win. The level of performance of the players - I think most people appreciated the level of performance in our game against Egypt as it was better than the level of our performance in the first game against Cape Verde. The players know there are no easy games in this tournament'', said Hughton.
Ghana got off to a bad start when they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in their opener and then squandered their lead against Egypt to end up settling for a 2-2 draw. Hughton wants to forget about the previous two matches.
''We are all aware that this is a situation we would rather not be in, we would rather have more points. And we feel certainly from the performance [against Egypt] and the goals we conceded we should be in a better position, but we don't know'', added Hughton.
Asked what discussions he was having with the players about tonight’s match, Hughton argued what needed to be said was obvious.
''Yes we are aware of the magnitude of this game, we know that this is a game that we have to win. Our preparations, going into the game have been the same as in the two previous games. What we can do is to prepare the team to play a very tough match as all these games are, and to make sure that we put in a level of performance that allows us to win the game'', he concluded.
