The Mother City outfit are currently third on the table in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, just three points behind log leaders Polokwane City in the race to return to the DStv Premiership.
Midfielder Granwald Scott says Bartlett is the perfect candidate for the task.
"Shaun is obviously going to be a top coach. He's won the Motsepe Foundation before, he also has Nasief Morris, another person that I looked up to growing up,” he said.
Bartlett still has to juggle between the league and Nedbank Cup, where Spurs face the in-form Sekhukhune United in the round of 16.
Scott, a championship winner with Bidvest Wits six years ago, feels the match is a good test to assess readiness for the Premiership.
"I think this is going to be a test for us, our plan is to obviously win the Motsepe Foundation and get promoted to the PSL. So, this (Nedbank Cup) is sort of a taste for players who have never played PSL before to see what they’re going to come up against if we do win the league,” he added.
Although the priority is winning the First Division, progressing in the cup can give Bartlett a chance to measure the depth in his squad, adds Scott.
“This draw will also be good for players that are not playing in the league regularly because it seems like the coach is giving the players that are not playing in the league some game time. Which is good overall for the squad,” he concluded.
